We turned your foraging into a Cornish craft beer
Barnoon Belgian Dubbel is back. That is, frankly down to you guys. Thank you.
A few weeks ago, we asked our incredible local community for help in collecting blackberries to craft a unique, mouth-watering Belgian Dubbel style beer. Thanks to your incredible support and hard work, we're excited to announce that Barnoon is now ready to be enjoyed! We couldn't have done it without you.
The Journey from Blackberry Picking to Brewing
Our journey started with a humble request for your assistance in gathering the finest blackberries Cornwall has to offer. The response was overwhelming, and we were truly humbled by the enthusiasm you all showed. Armed with baskets and a shared passion for great beer, we embarked on an adventure into the Cornish countryside to harvest those precious blackberries. You bought them to the brewery by the bucket load, helping us to collect over 50kg of wild Blackberries. Chapeau folks.

The abundance of these dark, juicy gems exceeded our expectations, and Callum our head brewer knew he had the key ingredient for something special. These blackberries were carefully sorted, cleaned, and prepared for the brewing process, ensuring that their vibrant flavours were preserved.
Crafting the Blackberry Brew
Callum’s aim was to create a Belgian style beer that best represented the season here in the wilds of Cornwall. A beer that reflected a change in season, a nod to the cooler months and a need for something full of body and rich flavours.
The blackberries were cleaned before being heated through on a BBQ at the brewery, the aim being to soften them and bring out the flavours and juice before being added to the whirlpool process. This brings a unique note to this beer.
The beer is then transferred into the fermenting part of the process, whereby the yeast does it’s job – using Belgian yeast that bring unique fruity and spicy flavours.
After a few weeks the beer is ready to be canned.
Tasting Notes
Barnoon offers a captivating experience for your taste buds. As you take your first sip, you'll be greeted by a burst of blackberry notes that are subtly sweet and tart. This harmonizes with the maltiness, and the finish is delightfully crisp. Whether you're a fan of ales, fruit beers, or simply love a refreshing and unique brew, this one's for you.
