2024 at St Ives Brewery
2024 has provided us with another great year, with plenty going on, plenty of beers being brewed and lots of great events. Here's some reflections and favourite parts of the year for our ambitious Cornish Craft Brewery.
January:
We managed to find some time to shut down the Taproom and get all of our staff in one place. We headed for a beer or two at The Sloop in St Ives, before enjoying an incredible meal at Silco. It's not often we get to all be together and not be working, so we took the opportunity to have some fun and let our hair down.
February:
We booked in the fabulous team at Pickled Events for a night of house music at the Brewery, with the amazing Charlie Boon headlining the event. These nights really are always great, they are always well attended and transform our brewery home into something a little different. It was another cracking night, with incredible sets, great dance moves and good beer flowing.
March:
We took a little trip, not a holiday mind you.
Marco and our Account Managers Harry and Seb hopped across to the Isles of Scilly to meet and spend time with some of our trade customers and to introduce some new venues to our Cornish craft beer. It was an amazing trip to an equally incredible place, taking in all the islands and being on the receiving end of the islands warmest welcome.
It's been great to work with some new business over on these idyllic islands, and we hope we can get back over in 2025.
April:
A bit of a 'pinch me' moment for our Brewery.
We released two collaboration beers, brewed with the expert team from Vocation Brewery. They are a Brewery we have admired for a long, long time, so to be able to work with them, lean into them for input and tap their skills and knowledge was amazing.
We brewed two beers with them, using hops that were new to both us and them.
Alora is a hazy and hoppy double dry hopped IPA whilst 'That's My Jam' was our first ever fruited sour. Both have become real favourites online, in the Taproom and with trade customers. Currently That's My Jam is available in Tesco stores across the Southwest.
May:
Joining some great food and drinks businesses at the Falmouth Food Festival made for a brilliant May. It was super to work with such a great team and to be out meeting people and talking beer, it's an event we'll certainly be heading back to.
Helles Mouth Cornish lager was first released in May too, a Helles style lager that really is a crisp and refreshing drop. Named after the cliffs near to our home in Cornwall, this is a Cornish lager not to be missed.
June:
There's one big event that usually dominates our output in June, it was the same again this year.
We love setting up and being part of the Royal Cornwall Show, it's such a great event and a real calendar moment here in Cornwall. The event gave us the chance to meet so many great people and serve up cold beers to keep everyone happy over the three-day event.
It's another event we can't wait to be back at in 2025.
July:
In July we hosted our own event, the inaugural Festival of Food, Music and Beer.
What a weekend it was.
We had fabulous music, including the show stopping Sandyacre 7 headlining on the first night and various other local artists across the weekend. We had amazing food from the likes of JBs Gone Cooking, Ruby Junes, Sourdoughlicious and plenty of others.
The sun shone. The beer flowed. The people danced and we all had a good time.
We are already planning for the 2025 rendition, here's hoping for sunshine once again!
August:
You'd have found us back out in the wild in August, supplying the beers at Penzance Food Festival. The team their put on a stellar event, with great food and drinks available across the weekend. It's another great addition to the food and festival scene here in Cornwall, even more so being one a little further West.
August was particularly busy for the delivery team too, out on the road delivering to our busy local trade customers. From Lands’ End to Plymouth and every in-between, we can't thank the team enough for keeping the beers flowing for our amazing customers.
September:
Cornwall doesn't really slow down in September, despite the kids being back at school. St Ives itself comes alive for the September Festival, where we were once again sponsoring and providing beer support. It's a long-standing event in the town, a real celebration of art, culture, and music - from international stars to local heroes. We love soaking up the atmosphere in the venues and the local pubs, made all that bit nicer by pints of Slipway or Meor IPA.
We also enjoyed playing our part with Gwithian Academy’s No Pro surf event at Godrevy. We put the beers on and there were some great waves and warm weather on the beach for the competition for those local nine sponsored surfers. Thanks guys - we love working with you.
October to December:
When the nights draw in, we start to get the beers ready for Christmas, with the tanks in constant use and tackling heavy double brew days.
We have also been taking the time to look ahead to 2025 - we can't wait to share some of our plans with you.
Thanks as ever for your support this year, we love what we do, and we love sharing our passion for great beer with like-minded souls.
Cheers to you.
