We were able to provide some refreshment for an amazing event at The Great Cornish Food Store, an event for young farmers and fisherman. It's great to see these hardworking and passionate people being supported by the industry in which they work.

The event, on Friday, 9th August, hosted an inspiring "Young Farmers & Young Fishermen" networking and skills evening, bringing together members of the Prize and Helston Young Farmers Clubs and The Young Fishermen’s Network. The event aimed to foster connections between young professionals in agriculture and fishing, providing a platform for networking and skill development.

The evening offered attendees, ranging from ages 13 to 30, a unique opportunity to explore the retail side of the farm-to-fork process. Through engaging workshops, participants were introduced to the intricacies of butchery and fish filleting, key skills in the food industry. Tom Jonki led the butchery workshop, where he demonstrated the process of receiving and preparing fresh meat. James Gray followed with a fish filleting workshop, guiding attendees through the art of filleting various species of fish, much to the interest of both the farmers and fishermen present.

The event also served as a valuable networking opportunity, allowing young potato farmers, milk producers, and fishermen to compare industry insights and share experiences. As the evening progressed, attendees enjoyed delicious mackerel rolls and beef burgers, freshly prepared by the kitchen team using meat and fish from the store’s counters.

Thanks for letting us play our part n this event, providing Slipway and Helles Mouth Cornish Lager.
